Perspective

Nothing injects a healthy dose of perspective into your life like when the next door building in your apartment complex erupts into a ball of fire.

No human life was lost and everyone escaped without injury--but a cat who lived in one of the units didn't make it out. Several people lost everything they had.

  1. Yeesh! Glad you're okay, Doug. Very sorry for the cat though. The death of any pet is a tragedy.

  2. Close. Wow. If that picture is any indication, you were spared from a serious sizzle.

  3. Patrick & Milo--thank you very much. When the flaming bits of wood and plastic started floating down like burning snow and landing in front of my door, it got pretty tense. But thanks to the great work of our city's fire department, it all came under control relatively quickly. We got very lucky.

I'm not a cat person, but I couldn't help but be sad about the animals who didn't make it out. They become like family. I can't imagine losing our dog like that.

  4. I noticed I said "animals" where before I mentioned just one...the count is up to three now, sadly.
