Horrorology Update

Hey folks,

The following image landed in my inbox this morning. It's the cover for Horrorology, an anthology published by The Library of Horror Press (an imprint of Library of the Living Dead Press). Pretty nifty, eh?

I can't share a release date with you--I don't have it--but will post an update as soon as I receive the good word.

Special thanks to my NT colleague, Jodi Lee, for all of her hard work on editing this bugger, which contains my story, "Imitation of Life," along with a bevy of great stories by other fantastic authors.

Hmm...another horror story that involves fishing. Along with "Folsom Pond Blues" and "Chums," I'm detecting a pattern in my published fiction.

That makes me curious--because I think most writers work this way to some degree or another. What images, themes, ideas, etc. keep popping up in your stories?

  1. Tarot cards, lately. And knights in armor. Which took a bizarre turn when I found a complete tarot pack in the trash based on the Arthurian legends.

  2. Interesting, Mr. Rose. But it begs the question--what were you doing rooting around in the trash? ;)

  3. I'm a junkie for ponds, too. The cursed novella I just finished has a pond. Things are thrown in, things crawl out...

    Good fun.

  4. Sounds like a good time--I need to pick me up some Polson fiction soon.

  5. Congrats, Doug. Very cool. My short story, "Gossip Hounds of Sherry Town" will be included in Library of the Living Dead's upcoming "Malicious Deviance" anthology.

I just wanted to say thank you for all of the advice, pushing, and prodding you gave me back in the day. No one has ever given me better advice than "AIC." :) I'm forever in your debt.

Glad to see you're still at it!

  6. Hey James--thanks for stopping by. Congratulations on your sale! How goes the battle in general?

It's been a busy year in writing/editing. Between my work on The South Dakotan, Necrotic Tissue, various distractions, and trying to squeeze my fiction writing time in, the year disappered fast. But it was good, and I'm blessed to be so busy.

In 2011, I'll have to take a big dose of my own advice and produce some more stories. I only have one out in the void right now.

  7. Writing it decent. I currently have five stories out and about, trying to capture little rejection letters for my collection. ;)

My favorite rejection so far informed me that I write too much like Stephen King or Dean Koontz. I was like, "So people who sell books then?" LOL. Still, I guess everyone writes like someone. I'd prefer those over some other people. ;)

Really, I'm finally getting comfortable with writing. I write some really weird stuff that people just don't get, but I'm much more okay with that these days.

I'll have to check out some of your work sometime.
